In 2025, Virginia State University took a bold step forward in its journey of growth and continued pursuit of Greater, breaking 
ground on two transformative facilities: its first new residence hall in more than a decade and a new Welcome Center.
Together, these two projects represent a commitment to expanding opportunity and excellence at Virginia State University. 
They are symbols of what is possible when a university invests in its mission, its students, and its community.
The new residence hall, expected to open in Spring 
2026, will provide 454 beds across double and sin-
gle suites. Designed with student success in mind, 
the facility will include a multipurpose assembly 
space, study lounges, and dedicated student park-
ing to support VSU’s record-breaking enrollment.
The new VSU Welcome Center will be home to 
Admissions and Institutional Advancement. It will 
serve as a modern gateway to the University. It 
is designed to enhance the prospective student 
experience and provide upgraded workspaces 
for staff. Highlights include a media center, a 
welcome center, multipurpose rooms, a balcony 
overlooking Rogers Stadium, and parking for more 
than 300 vehicles, split between on-site (163) and 
satellite (153) spaces.

Virginia State University continues to make 
higher education more accessible, with steady 
enrollment growth over the past five years. 
This growth reflects the strength of our faculty 
and staff, academic programs, and state-of-the-
art facilities that attract a wide range of talented 
students to be part of the Greater at VSU. As 
the University continues to grow, we remain 
committed to empowering all students to be-
come informed citizens and global leaders.
